Mount Makiling highest mountain in Los Baños Laguna
Mount Makiling contains a diverse flora from a large number of endemic species as well as introduced species from other parts of the world. The summit of Mount Makiling is 1090meters above sea level and it takes 4 hours to walk to reach the summit. It has a total area of 2244 hectares. Makiling rainforest is an asean heritage and low mountain located between the provinces of Laguna and Batangas. It has diverse and unique forest ecosystem from lowland evergreen rainforest.
The trail to Mount Makiling starts at Rumulo A. Del Castillo Hall. First, you need to register before starting the hike. Mount Makiling has 30 stations. First Station till Eleven Station is smooth and paved path. You won’t fell the heat while walking because the place is surrounded by trees. If you are a nature lover you will love the place. The walk fells good because of the chiring of the birds that you will hear and what you will see in the surroundings.
Agila base/Station 11, you can rest and there are snacks, water and nutrition vendors. The next part has a more difficult climb. The trail is combination of muddy and rocky. As the summit approaches, the climb become more intense.
The trail is difficult because the road is small, slippery and muddy which is why there is a rope here for hikers to hold on to.
When you reach the summit this is the view you can see here when it’s not foggy. Besides the summit, you can also see different types of flowers here while walking on the trail. Just be careful when walking because there are leeches here, especially when it rains.

Medenilla Magnifica– A signature flower, they call it Chandellier Tree.
Malaboo/Rafflesia Panchoana– The name is given because its scent similar to rotting flesh.

Via Bus
From Metro Manila Ride an HM transport bus going to Sta.Cruz municipality in Laguna. Tell the bus driver to frop you at Los Baños Crossing, from there rise a jeep with a signboard going to UPLB.
Via Private Car
From Metro Manila, take a south Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and Maharalika Highway. Then turn left to Mak-Ban Road and afterward make a left turn to Brgy.San Vicente in the city of San Pedro Laguna the follow throgh all the way to the registation site of Mount Makiling.
