Known as the Emerging Paradise of the Pacific becasue it’s enchanting white and pink beaches, Caramoan is a first-class district in the province of Camarines Sur, Philippines. It is also called municipality of Caramaon. It’s clear azure water extend to the MAqueda Channel and Lagonoy Gulf.

The sand is very fine, the water is clean and clear. You can see many different rock formations.

Caramoan Camarines Sur travel idea

30minutes boat ride from Lahos Island. The water is firm and calm, it is also surrounded by trees. The famous Milkfish can also found here, but you have to climb the rock formations first. Just be careful because the stones have sharp parts.

You have to trek to reach the Lighthouse, but don’t worry because the road here is good and paved. So it’s not too difficult to trek. Approximately trekking is 15-20minutes. The view you can see here beautiful. The air is very fresh.

5minutes boat ride from Guinohoan. This is what they call a sand bar. The sand is so fine that it’s ok because you can just walk on it because it doesn’t hurt your feet.

This 16th century old church. Founded in 1619 St Franciscan missionaries, possesses its own unique and charming charm. From a distance you can easily be attracted by the interesting color of its facade. I have never seen a church that is red and mostly made of brick so for a moment it looks like it was transported back to Spanish era.

Manila to Caramoan to Sabang Port

Route 1

  • From Manila (Cubao, Pasay, Alabang) take a bus bound for Sabang Port, Raymond and Penafrancia/Isarog have buses that go directly to Sabang Port in Camarines Sur. The usual jumping point of tourist to Caramoan town.
  • Buses leave at around 6:00-7:00PM. Travel time is around 10hours.
  • From Sabang Port, you nedd to tkae the passenger boat to Guijalo Port in Caramoan. Travel time is about 2 hours. Don’t forget to write your name in the manifest before boarding.
  • At Guijalo Port, pay the environmental fee for Php30.00/head at the structure labeled Caramoan Feeder Port take a tricyle to Caramoan town center where hotels, lodges, guesthouse are located. Travel time is 30minutes. So if you are alone better join other tourist or locals headed downtown.
  • Proceed to Bikal Port at Brgy.Paniman. Charter a boat take you to Caramoan Island (Php1500.00-Php2500.00 good for 6persons) for the nearest Island like Lahos, Matukad, Cagbalinad, Guinohoan Lighthouse, Cotivas Sandbar, Manlawe Sandbar at Sabitnag-Laya. If you are pressed for time and you want to be visit all the mentioned Island above 1 day, You can charter a boat Php4000.00-Php4500.00. Take note that the food is not included in the Island hopping tour if you are renting a boat so you can either buy food from the restaurants or buy fresh fish, poultry or meat and have a boatman cook them. (give a tip)

Route 2

Manila- Naga- Sabang Port- Guijalo Port- Caramoan town

This is the most famous route used by tourist heading to Caramoan. From Manila, take a bus bound for Naga such as Philtranco. CUL, Raymond and Isarog/Penafrancia/RSL. Travel time is about 9 hours.

  • From Naga bus terminal, take a tricycle to the nearby East Bound Terminal or Naga Van Terminal at the back of SM Naga. It’s just near but tricycles lined up at the terminal may charge you Php30.00 even if you alone. So i suggest you walk a few meters away from the terinal and hail a passing tricycle instead. Php10.00 per person will do. Ride a passenger van or Filcab en route to Sabang Port, fare is about to Php150.00 and travel time is 1.5 to 2 hours. Vans to Sabang Port depart at 6:00AM.
  • At Sabang Port, take the passenger outrigger boat to Guijalo Port in Caramoan. Travel time is 2 hours and fare is Php120.00. You will not be allowed to board the boat without writing your name in the manifest. Last trip to Caramoan and from Caramoan is at 11:00AM, so to avoid missing the passenger bpat, you should leave Naga before 9:00AM, because if you miss the boat, you’re next option is charter a boat to Guijalo Port in Caramoan for Php2500.00-Php3000.00.
  • At Guijalo Port, pay the Php30.00 per person Environmental fee at the structure labeled Caramoan Feeder Port. Then charter a tricycle to Caramoan town center where most hotels, lodges and guesthouses are situated. Fare is Php300.00 for one tricycle. So if you alone, I suggest you join other tourists or local headed downtown to save a few bucks.

  • Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific Air Fly between Manila and Naga City in Camarines Sur, At Naga City head to Naga Van Terminal and catch a van bound for Sabang Port. Travel time is 1.5 to 2hours. Van depart at 6:00AM, for you notto miss the last boat at Guijalo Port, make sure you leave before 9:00AM.
  • At Sabang Port, board the passenger outrigger boat to Guijalo Port in Caramoan. Travel time is 2 hours and fare is about Php120.00 and ensure that you have written your name in the manifesto. Last tripping to and going from Guijalo Port in Caramoan is at 11:00Am, so make sure you don’t miss that.
  • At Guijalo Port, pay the Php30.00 per person Environmental fee at the structure labeled Caramoan Feeder Port and charter a tricycle to Caramoan town center where most hotels, inns, bed & breakfast and guesthouses are located. Fare is Php300.00 for one tricycle. So if you are alone, to save a few bucks, talk to ther tourists or locals so you can join them in the tricycle and just divide the fare.
  • Head to Bikal Port to charter a boat to take you to Caramoan Island. (Php1500.00-Php2500.00 good for 6 persons). For the nearer Island like Lahos, Matukad, Cagbalinad, Guinohoan Lighthouse, Cotivas Sandbar, Manlawe Sandbar at Sabitnag-Laya.

Route 4

Manila- Virac (Catanduanes)- Caramoan Islands

  • Cebu Pacific Flies to Virac (Catanduanes) from Manila. At Virac, charter a tricycle to take you to Codon Port Php300.00 good for 4 persons. Travel time is 1 hour.
  • At Codon Port, charter a boat from the fishermen living near the port to take you to Caramoan Island, Boat rentals will cost you Php2500.00-Php3000.00, travel time is just 30-40 minutes, Some of the islands may not visible due to survivor filming, varying weather conditions and tide level.
